Transfer of peeling cream for filling

Task:
Facial and body peeling creams are to be transferred from drums and mixing containers to the filling process.

Solution:
F560 GS eccentric worm-drive pump
Three-phase electric motor
Accessories, hoses and fittings

Application description:
Prior purchasing the FLUX eccentric worm-drive pump, the creams were transferred by hand into filling machine feed hoppers. This proved to be not only slow and inefficient, but also hygienically problematic. Now FLUX has improved transfer speeds and hygienic conditions.

The material is pumped from drums and mixing containers placed alongside the filling systems. Low rotational speeds ensure very gentle pumping action. Shearing of the product is very low – as is the case for FLUX worm-drive pumps in general – and therefore there is no danger that the consistency of the products will change. Product level in the feed hoppers is monitored using level sensors and the F560 pumps are switched on and off automatically as needed.  Consequently the filling process is faster and more efficient – delivering significant ROI for the customer.

Transferring shampoo raw materials

Task:
Shampoo raw materials are to be dispensed from 200-litre plastic drums into a mixing tub – previously this had been done manually. A simple and, most importantly, time-saving solution was required.

Solution:
F560 GS eccentric worm-drive pump
F458 fully sealed commutator motor
Accessories and hoses

Application description:
A mid-size company producing high-quality natural cosmetics had been transferring raw materials by manually scooping them from drums. Not only time-intensive but also resulted in a high degree of spillage and waste. The F 560 GS FOOD eccentric worm-drive pump is now used for these transferring the materials.

Being light-weight, portable and easy to clean, this pump is an ideal solution. Removing products up to 25,000 mPas from the 200-litre drums is problem free. The materials are quickly dispensed into a mixing vessel, where the final product is produced. Finished product is then metered into consumer bottles on a filling line and packaged for sale.

Filling high-viscosity liquid soap

Task:
Filling of high-viscosity liquid soap, and the raw materials for its production, e.g. glycerin, from IBCs into various production containers. Most of these products are high-foaming when splash filled.

Solution:
F 560 GS eccentric-worm drive pump
F 458 fully sealed commutator motor
FMO flow meter
FLUXTRONIC® batch controller
FSV100 Switched-mode amplifier
Hoses and accessories

Application description:

The Flux F560 GS eccentric worm-drive pump is ideal for rapidly and safely transferring soaps. It is available in two hygienic designs, with either 3A or FDA / EC1935 FOOD certification.

The compact F 560 GS model is portable, easy and safe to use. A double-walled IP55 sealed motor guarantees that carbon deposits from the motor cannot accidentally contaminate the customers products. If the container (e.g. IBC) is only accessible via the bottom outlet, a trolley mounted version (TR version) could be used as an alternative.

These pumps provide gentle, pulsation-free pumping with extremely low shear forces. This reduces the chance of extreme foaming. The F550 can even handle thicker soap deposits that may have formed at the base of the vessel.

Our FMO flow meter with FLUXTRONIC® batch controller can be fitted to our eccentric worm-drive pumps. This enables the pump to be upgraded to a semi-automated filling system, recommended for repeat, high-accuracy filling of smaller containers, or for batch transfer to mixing vessels.

Dispensing Vaseline from 200-litre drums into batching tanks

Task:
High-viscosity Vaseline requires dispensing from a 200-litre drum into a batching tank via a heated pipeline.

Solution:
VISCOFLUX mobile S drum emptying system
F560 S eccentric worm-drive pump
Spur gear motor
Hoses and accessories

Application description:
Transferring Vaseline from a 200-litre drum to a filling hopper. Since the transfer distance, with 10-meter DN 40 pipeline and 4-meter hose, is relatively long, the discharge piping will be heated. This reduces product viscosity, keeping the pipeline back pressure within calculated limits. The VISCOFLUX mobile S drum emptying system for high-viscosity, non-free-flowing media, combined with our F 560 S eccentric worm-drive pump is the perfect hygienic solution.

The VISCOFLUX mobile S is rolled up to the drum and the follower plate lowered onto the surface of the product. The pump is turned on. At the end of the discharge line, an employee measures the Vaseline into the batching tank which stands on scales. Once the desired weight is reached, the employee closes a ball valve. The rising pressure is monitored with a pressure switch and the  pump is switched off automatically. The pump starts again when the ball valve is reopened and pressure drops. The cut-out/cut-in pressure can be predefined precisely in accordance with the process parameters.

Pump speed can be varied easily using the spur gear motor, meaning pump speed can be increased or decreased to handle changes in viscosity between summer and winter temperatures.

Dispensing essential oils, perfume oils, fragrance agents and essences

Task:
Basic cosmetic ingredients, such as oils, fragrances and other essences, require dispensing from 200 l drums. The pump must be certified (hygienic approval, e.g. FOOD or FDA certification) and must be suitable for use in Zoned areas where flammable vapours may be present.

Solution:
F430 S FDA Ex drum pump with mechanical seal
F460 Ex commutator motor
Hoses and accessories

Application description:
The F430 is made from high quality stainless steel. Welds are filed to remove bug traps and surfaces are polished to 10 micron finish. The F430 can be used for a variety of liquids up to 1000 mPas. Frequent liquid changes are no problem, as the pump can be disassembled into its two main parts for cleaning extremely quickly.  All areas in contact with the liquids are easily accessible. A mechanical seal ensures liquid cannot enter the inner tube, minimizing any risk of cross-contamination.

F430 is highly portable, ensuring different liquids can be transferred from different sized containers easily and safely.

Decanting perfume oils into mixing systems

Task:
Perfume oils require decanting from 200 l drums into a mixing system.

Customer requirements:
- Easy to clean
- Portable

Solution:
FP430 S drum pump with mechanical seal
F460 Ex commutator motor
Hose and accessories

Application description:
FLUX F430 S with FOOD and Ex certification is the ideal solution for quick, safe decanting of perfume oils. The pump is highly portable and extremely easy to maintain.

The pump can be dismantled into its two main parts without any tools, making cleaning supremely easy. Cross-contamination risk is minimised due to the sealed inner tube assembly. The F460 motor is IP55 rated with a double-walled housing. This ensures carbon deposits from the motor cannot drop into the product.

The operator carries the drum pump to the point of use, inserts it in the container and connects the discharge hose. Moving the pump between different containers is easy, especially when a non-return valve is installed on the pump outlet. Dispensing is controlled manually via a hand nozzle and quantity is monitored via scales.

Filling of ethanol

Task:
Transferring Ethanol from IBCs and 200 l drums into smaller containers with minimal waste and high accuracy.

Customers requirements:
- Explosion protected (Ex) pumps
- No residue left in containers
- Fast and repeatable

Solution:
F425 Drum pump for 99.98% emptying
F460 Ex Commutator motor
FMC100 flow meter
Hose and accessories

Application description:
The FLUX F425 pump with explosion protection certification for flammable liquids is the perfect solution for drum emptying leaving minimal residue.

When emptying 200 l drums, the unique design of the F425 ensures residues of less than 0.05 l remain. In addition, the manually controlled non-return valve on pump inlet prevents the liquid from flowing back into the emptied drum. This enables optimum use of the product - perfect for high value liquids.  FLUX can guarantee a reduction in drum cleaning and waste disposal costs too.

Removing the liquid is simple: The pump is inserted into the container to be emptied and the motor switched on.

By using our FMC flow meter with FLUXTRONIC® batch controller, the desired fill quantity can then be safely and accurately metered into small containers.

When combined with an FSV100 switching amplifier, the desired fill quantity can be entered and dispensing can be  completed automatically at the touch of a button. Once the desired quantity is reached, the pump stops automatically and the filling process can begin again.
