Firstly, this alcohol barrel pump kit is certified to EC 1935 / 2004 and FDA CFR 21 standards, making it suitable for direct contact with consumable food and pharmaceutical-grade products. The electropolished stainless steel 316 Ti pump tubes and treated welds eliminate dead spots that could harbour bacteria, thereby improving cleanability in regulated production environments.
The ATEX-certified F 430 Ex S and F 460 Ex motor are engineered for safe use in Zoned hazardous areas common in distilleries and specialised food production facilities. Furthermore, the pump kit is safe to use with low-flashpoint flammable liquids, including ethanol, high strength spirits and certain food flavourings—which pose a significant risk of vapour ignition.
The pump is fitted with a mechanical seal with FKM o-ring, consequently creating a physical barrier between the inner and outer tubes. Therefore, the pump driveshaft and bearings are protected from ingress of soft/hard solid particles, or high sugar content liquids that may crystallise. The mechanical seal extends service life under demanding process conditions, however, preventative seal replacement should be untaken periodically. Replacing the seal every two years reduces the risk of a leak, therefore eliminating the risk of liquid entering the inner tube.
The pump can be disassembled into its two main parts within seconds: the inner tube (complete with driver, impeller and also mechanical seal) and the outer tube. Cleaning is therefore quick and simple – particularly useful when pumping several liquids with one pump and helping to minimise the chance of cross-contamination. This pump design supports both Clean-in-Place (CIP) and Sterilise-in-Place (SIP) protocols.
The ETFE axial impeller delivers high flow rates up to 175 l/min, under open flow conditions and approx. 60 LPM with the hose and hand nozzle connected. In addition, the pump kit can handle fluids of maximum viscosity approx. 600 mPas. Therefore, the pump can be used to handle higher viscosity products, such as fruit juice or cooking oil, as well as low viscosity fluids, such as ethanol.
The electrically conductive food-grade hose and Ex-rated stainless steel hand nozzle ensure safe dissipation of static charge. When transferring alcohol or spirits, static build-up can be a major ignition risk, especially during bulk dispensing. Moreover, this kit includes an earth cable and conductive compression gland, for full ATEX compliance.
This pump features a tough, vibration-resistant shaft bearing system, a stainless steel driveshaft and impeller, along with corrosion-resistant materials throughout. These features, combined with our modular, fully serviceable design, consequently make the pump suitable for continuous-duty operation and heavy duty use. Replacement parts are readily available, thereby enabling in-house servicing with minimal downtime. Alternatively, send your pump back to our service centre to be repaired by one of our trained technicians.
Finally, the F 460 Ex motor is a continuous-duty, totally enclosed commutator motor with IP55 ingress protection. This design ensures that carbon dust, produced as the motor brushes wear, does not present a contamination risk. Furthermore, alternative options, such as 110V motors, air-driven motors and replacement o-ring materials (including highly resistant FFKM), are available to suit individual applications.
The Flux F 430 alcohol barrel pump kit is ideal for a variety of liquids, including flammable, solids-laden and even crystallising media. Examples include:
