Drum Pump Hose Connectors for Flux 400 Series

£17.49£147.11

A hose connector is usually required to connect a delivery hose to the discharge port of your Flux drum pump.  Standard drum pump hose connectors for our industrial pumps comprise a captive DN 19, DN 25 or DN 32 hose tail, a female union nut and flat polyethylene gasket. The union nut secures the hose tail to the male threaded pump outlet. Consequently the gasket creates a seal between the pump and the hose tail.  Furthermore, these connectors ensure safe, leak-free liquid transfer in chemical, pharmaceutical, food and industrial applications. Hose connections are available in chemically resistant materials to match the pump material, including stainless steel, aluminium, polypropylene and PVDF.  In addition, stainless steel tri-clamp hose connections are available for use with F 430 and F 427 sanitary pumps. Tri-clamp hose connections include a DN25 hose tail with a 1.5” clamp ferrule, FKM gasket (alternative materials available if required), and a cardan clamp with wing nut. Consequently, the cardan clamp secures the hose tail and gasket to the 1.5” clamp ferrule on the pump discharge port. DN 25 hose is the most appropriate choice for most low viscosity pumping applications using F 400 series pumps. Pressure losses at higher flow rates are minimal and the hose is flexible enough to avoid operator fatigue when completing dispensing operations. Flux recommends periodic inspection of hose clamps, gaskets and hoses, particularly in aggressive chemical environments, to minimise the chance of a potentially hazardous leak, or failure.

Note you should not use standard drum pump hose connectors in explosion hazard areas that require Ex-approved equipment, as identified by a DSEAR risk assessment. In such applications, it is critical to ensure there is a secure, conductive connection between the discharge hose and the pump. For further guidance, please contact us for advice regarding hose connections for hazardous area use.

Connection type: DN 19 or DN 25 hose tail

Connection to pump outlet: G1 1/4″ BSPP female for Flux 400 series industrial pumps, 1.5” tri-clamp ferrule for F 400 series sanitary pumps

Material options:

  • DN25 S: Stainless steel 316Ti with nickel-plated brass union nut
  • DN25 AL: Aluminium
  • DN19 PP: Polypropylene
  • DN25 PP: Polypropylene
  • DN25 PVDF: Polyvinylidene fluoride
  • FOOD DN25 S: Stainless steel 316 Ti tri-clamp

Temperature resistance:

  • PP: Maximum 50°C
  • PVDF: Maximum 80°C
  • Stainless steel: Maximum 100°C

Chemical compatibility: Consult chemical resistance charts prior to use, or call us for advice.

The easiest way to connect a discharge hose is to select the preferred hose connector, based on the pump type and material. Flux manufactures our F 400 series industrial pumps with a 1 1/4” BSPP female threaded outlet port. However, sanitary, food-grade pumps have a 1.5” tri-clamp ferrule outlet.

Firstly, push the female threaded union nut over the hose tail. Then, check that the PE gasket is seated correctly inside the union nut. Next, screw the female union onto the pump outlet. Once seated and tightened, the PE gasket will create a leak-proof seal. Now slide a bolted hose clamp over the end of the hose – hose clamps are available separately. Then push the end of the hose over the barbed hose tail, ensuring that it is pushed all the way on. Tighten the hose clamp securely, then test to ensure there are no leaks.

It is easiest to complete this operation with pump lying horizontally (perhaps on a bench), with the pump outlet facing vertically upwards. Firstly, seat the FKM gasket onto the pump outlet ferrule, then seat the hose tail on top of the gasket. Ensure the gasket sits correctly and is not pinched. Next, open the cardan clamp and position it over the two clamp ferrules, again ensuring that the two ferrules and the gasket are aligned. Finally, tighten the butterfly clamp and test for leaks.

Flux manufactures F 400 series drum pump hose connectors to suit three hose sizes – DN 19 (3/4”), DN25 (1”) and DN 32 (1 1/4”). DN 25 hose is the most common option, as DN25 hose provides high flow rates, good flexibility and compatibility with a wide range of dispense nozzles and accessories.

Note the hose connectors listed here are designed to fit the G1 1/4″ male outlet thread found on Flux 400 series drum pumps. This includes the F 424, F 425, F 426 and F 430 models.

However, standard steel hose connections should not be used in Ex applications, as they do not guarantee a conductive connection between the pump outlet and the hose. If an electrical potential difference occurs between the pump and the hose, a static electrical discharge could create a spark. For further guidance, please contact us to discuss hose connections for hazardous area use.

To ensure a secure, leak-free connection:

  • Match the connector material with the pump tube material (e.g., PP connector with PP pump, PVDF with PVDF).
  • Check the chemical compatibility of the desired hose with the pumped chemicals. Do not use conductive chemical hoses with standard barbed hose connections.
  • Secure the hose using a stainless steel clamp, ensuring clamping force is distributed evenly.
  • Lastly, avoid over-tightening the hose clamp to prevent hose damage.

If pumping high-temperature or highly corrosive media, stainless steel or PVDF connectors are likely to provide maximum service life.

  • Full compatibility with Flux 400 series drum and container pumps
  • Leak-free connection
  • Choice of materials for compatibility with chemicals and food products
  • Hygienic options available for pharmaceutical and food processing pumps
  • Rapid installation and easy maintenance
  • Temperature resistant connections suitable for demanding process environments
