Flux F 426 Drum Mixer and Transfer Pump

£1,259.81£1,286.28

The Flux F 426 is drum pump with a difference – its selectable mixing function allows the user to switch between pumping mode, drum mixer mode and thirdly, pumping and mixing mode. Therefore, F 426 covers both pumping and mixing functions in one, eliminating the requirement for separate pieces of equipment and thereby saving on capital expenditure. F 426 is ideal for agitating, mixing and then transferring the mixed product directly from 200-litre drums or 1000-litre IBCs**. This pump helps industrial professionals handle inhomogeneous or settling media, when installation of a dedicated high-shear mixer is too expensive, or impractical. Models are available in either stainless steel 316 or chemically resistant polypropylene, with a choice of o-ring materials, for optimal compatibility with the mixed liquids.  The F 426 achieves its dual capability through its manually operated control levers, which allow the user to switch between the three operating modes. The levers open and close four mixing ports in the side of the pump tube, consequently eliminating any requirement for user disassembly and re-assembly to switch between modes. Furthermore, the stainless steel version is ATEX certified for use in explosive atmospheres and with flammable liquids.  In addition, all F 426 models are fully serviceable designs and can be run continuously in demanding conditions. Any Flux high-power F 400 series motor (>600 W), can be used with F 426.

When product homogeneity and uniformity is critical, the Flux F 426 drum mixer delivers an unparalleled combination of mixing and transfer functionality within a single, precision-engineered pump. Importantly, the F 426 eliminates the requirement for a standalone agitator or recirculation system, along with a separate pump, thereby reducing capital expenditure, maintenance complexity and potential contamination points.

The F 426 is ideal for handling low viscosity, low density, non-adhesive media that are prone to phase separation, or liquids that require consistent agitation during transfer. Examples include re-suspending solids in coating materials and homogenising reagents in pharmaceutical, or fine chemical manufacturing. Moreover, these operations traditionally require separate mixing and pumping equipment, creating bottlenecks and requiring repeated manual handling.

The F 426 is a high-shear mixer with a 38 mm diameter centrifugal impeller. The impeller spins at speeds up to 10,000 RPM, driving the liquid up the pump tube and out through the mixing ports. Continued operation thereby re-circulates the media repeatedly in the drum or IBC. Note, however, that F 426 is not suitable for use with shear-sensitive, highly foaming, high density or high viscosity liquids.

The user selects mixing or pumping functionality using adjustable levers at the top of the pump tube. The levers open and close four re-circulation ports in the outer pump tube, redirecting flow from the pump impeller. Mode selection may be undertaken with the motor running, providing seamless changeover between pumping, simultaneous pumping and mixing, or recirculation modes, without interrupting the process.

Furthermore, these pumps are available in either corrosion-resistant polypropylene or stainless steel 316 materials. The polypropylene version features the unique Flux high-strength steel-reinforced inner tube, for ultimate vibration resistance and structural integrity.

To conclude, the F 426 is a flexible, lightweight, cost-effective solution for occasional low viscosity drum mixing applications when a dedicated mixer is impractical.

Yes – and it’s engineered with efficiency in mind. The Flux F 426 is not merely a hybrid; it is a portable, industrial-grade drum mixer and centrifugal transfer pump combined. Therefore, this pump enables users to carry out high-shear mixing and volumetric transfer using a single device, simplifying process layout, reducing cost and improving operational safety.

Unlike conventional, single-function stirrers and top-mounted agitators, which may have limited mobility, the F 426 is a compact, lightweight design. Central to the F 426’s configuration is its adjustable mixing system.  Four mixing ports control pumping or recirculation, by directing some or all of the pumped liquid back into the container. This delivers uniform dispersion of additives, thermal equalisation, or reactivation of settled materials.

When fitted with a high-torque electric or compressed-air motor, the F 426 can handle fluids up to 400 mPas, making it suitable for emulsions, coagulated liquids and liquid suspensions. The ATEX-compatible stainless steel version ensures that flammable liquids and explosive atmospheres are no barrier to performance. Note that you must use an appropriate ATEX-certified motor.

In practical terms, the F 426 eliminates the need to transfer media between separate containers for mixing and discharge. This reduces the risk of spills, cross-contamination and operator exposure to hazardous vapours – especially useful in sectors such as chemical processing, paint and coatings and agrochemical production.

Flux F 424 and F 426 pumps are similar vertical, centrifugal pumps that share high chemical resistance and wide range of compatible motor options, however, they serve fundamentally different process needs.

  • F 424 is a seal-less, high flow transfer pump that excels in handling pure, non-crystallising liquids that do not contain solid particles. Its seal-free, heavy duty design with oversized bearings makes it ideal for applications prioritising minimal maintenance and high uptime. You can use it for re-circulation tasks; however, it does not handle drum mixing. F 424 serves as a traditional drum (or IBC) pump for handling pure, pre-mixed fluids that do not require any further mixing before discharge.
  • In contrast, the F 426 is focussed more on in-drum mixing, with its pumping function used primarily to empty the mixed product from the container, once the mixing process is complete. The F 426 utilises a hard-faced mechanical seal that stops the media from entering the pump inner tube and bearings. Therefore it is suitable for handling crystallising and solids-laden liquids, as well as pure liquids. The manually actuated mixing ports provide on-demand agitation and container emptying functionality within the same pump. It is especially useful when media separation, settling of solids, or emulsification challenges are present.

In summary, the F 424 is ideal for straightforward transfer tasks, while the F 426 can handle more complex applications that require both mixing and drum dispensing.

The F 426 is a centrifugal, axial rotor drum mixer pump powered by a choice of Flux F 400 series commutator, brushless, or air motors. An interlocking drive coupling transfers torque to the mixing pump — the male motor driver fits into a matching, replaceable female coupling in the pump, called the coupling cage. A long drive shaft connects the coupling cage to the impeller. The shaft is supported by five or six intermediate bearings. The impeller sits at the bottom of the pump tube, fully immersed in the liquid. The mixing unit runs at high speeds, of up to 10,000 RPM.

The mixing pump unit incorporates adjustable mixing ports, which can be opened or closed using external, manually operated, lockable levers. Different modes can be selected while the pump is in operation. When the mixing ports are open, pumped fluid is redirected back into the container via four flow channels, delivering recirculation and mixing. Thus, solid particles are kept in suspension. In pumping mode, the mixing ports are sealed and fluid is directed to the side discharge port at the top of the pump tube. The pump also incorporates a hybrid mode, where mixing and pumping can be undertaken simultaneously – ideal for media containing dense solids that may drop out of suspension easily.

All components are selected for superior chemical resistance.  A ceramic-oxide mechanical seal protects the bearings from ingress of potentially abrasive particles, thereby extending service intervals.
