Flux ViscoPower High Viscosity Drum Pump

Price range: £2,845.03 through £3,520.24

Flux Viscopower pump represents a groundbreaking solution in the field of high-viscosity fluid transfer. Specifically engineered for pumping viscous, adhesive and shear-sensitive media from drums and IBC containers, these progressive cavity pumps excel when other positive displacement pumps can no longer cope. Whether you're dealing with food products, grease, lubricant, paste, resin, or heavy oil, the ViscoPower high viscosity drum pump delivers pulsation-free flow, while preserving the integrity of your product. These pumps are low speed, progressive cavity designs, featuring a motor-driven helical rotor that turns within a matched elastomeric stator. As the rotor turns, cavities are opened and closed in series and fluid is pushed from one to the next, providing smooth, consistent flow. The pump contains very few moving parts – only the stator, driveshaft, rotor and mechanical seal, making them simple and quick to maintain.  Soft solids up to 8 mm in diameter will pass cleanly through the rotor-stator cavities. This makes Viscopower especially suitable for food, cosmetics and pharmaceutical applications, where product consistency and material safety are essential. And thanks to its modular construction with quick-release clamps throughout, the pump can be disassembled extremely easily for cleaning, decontamination or inspection, thereby increasing process efficiency.

Viscopower is available in three main configurations – F 570 with gearbox, F 580 high torque, and F 580 TR, for connection to tank and IBC outlets.

F 570 is a lighter, portable design, powered by our compact F 400 series motors. F 580 models are suitable for highly viscous and adhesive media, requiring a heavy duty three-phase electric or high-powered, compressed air motor.

In addition, to ensure Viscopower is suitable for the widest possible range of high-viscosity applications, we extended the modular design brief even further.

That’s why there is a choice of four different rotor configurations, from 17 ml/rev through to 83 ml/rev, along with four stator materials – PTFE, FKM, EPDM and NBR. Therefore, Viscopower can be used for low volume dosing to high flow transfer duty, and for handling flammable media through to food products.

These pumps are suitable for use with open and closed 200-220 litre drums, 1000 litre IBCs, specialist mixing vessels and custom tanks. Industrial, food-grade and ATEX-certified models are available. Furthermore, high pressure models with a closed mechanical seal are available for discharge pressures up to 15 Bar.

  • O-rings: FKM, FFKM, EPDM, NBR depending on pumped media.
  • Immersion lengths: 700 mm (for smaller containers), 1000 mm (for 200-220 l drums), 1200 mm (for 1,000 l IBCs), plus 1500 mm available on request.
  • Outer tube diameter: 53 mm
  • Outlet connection:  2” clamp ferrule
  • F 570 motors: F 457, F 457 EL, F 458-1, F 460-1 Ex, F 416 Ex, F 416-1 Ex, F 416-2 Ex
  • F 580 motors : FPM 4 – 8 Ex compressed air motors, plus range of 3-phase electric motors.

*Please note a hose connection is not included and must be purchased separately.

  • Max flow rate: Up to 80 l/min*1
  • Max discharge pressure: Up to 150 mwc*1
  • Maximum liquid temperature: Up to 100 degrees C depending on materials
  • Max density: Approx. 2.2 g/cmÂł
  • Max viscosity: Approx. 30,000 mPas (F 570) and approx.100,000 mPas (F 580). Viscosity handling is dependent on media rheology. For example, the pump is suitable for pumping higher viscosity, sharable materials eg. grease, petroleum jelly, depending on rotor and stator selected. Likewise the pump may be unsuitable for high viscosity, adhesive media, due to excessive pressure loss.

Dry run capability:

Possible for short periods only – mechanical seal and stator require lubrication, therefore dry running for longer than 30 seconds should be avoided.

* Measured with water at 20 degrees C in open flow condition. The maximum figures listed above are dependent on the application, fluid properties and the pump configuration. Please refer to technical data sheets or performance diagrams.

*Depending on rotor, stator material and motor power

Please see our comprehensive list of media examples suitable for the Viscopower, based on pump material, here.

The Viscopower high viscosity drum pump is ideal for media such as:

  • Glue
  • Paint & Varnish
  • Heavy oils and grease
  • Petroleum jelly
  • Tomato paste
  • Caramel sauce
  • Soups and condiments
  • Adhesives, resins and hardeners
  • Flammable high viscosity media
  • Cosmetic creams, soaps, pastes and gels
  • and many more…

When it comes to processing and transferring high-viscosity or shear-sensitive media from drums and IBC’s, power, portability, cleanability and simplicity are paramount.

Firstly, let’s consider power.

Because the pump inlet is immersed directly in the liquid, the forces of gravity and atmospheric pressure both help to push the liquid into the pump inlet. When combined with the suction power created by the progressive cavity design, this pump can handle very viscous, adhesive products with ease.

This is a significant advantage over “dry” pumps that have to suck the media up out of the barrel, eg. an air-operated diaphragm pump with suction lance, or flexible impeller pump.

With flow rates of up to 80 L/min and discharge pressures reaching 15 bar, the Viscopower is capable of transferring materials such as adhesive, bitumen, honey and grease with ease. You can precisely tailor the pump to the application, by choosing from four rotor geometries and four stator materials.

Therefore, you can adapt the same pump to suit different flow rates, dispensing tasks and liquid types.

Viscopower pumps are highly portable. F 570 models with drive motor weigh from 9 kg, therefore these pumps can be transferred easily between containers. Moreover, you can detach the drive motor in seconds, further improving mobility. Additionally, Viscopower pumps can be used with either compressed air, or electric motors.

Effortless maintenance and cleaning

Furthermore, the Viscopower high viscosity drum pump is extremely easy to clean. With quick-release, tri-clamp connections throughout, the pump can be disassembled in under one minute, without the use of specialist tools. And with only 4 moving parts, maintenance is quick and simple – German engineering at its best.

Furthermore, plant operators benefit from reduced downtime and maximum return on investment.

Progressive cavity drum pumps, such as Viscopower, are regarded as the optimal solution for transferring high-viscosity media from drums.  These pumps offer the following features and benefits:

Great priming ability

High suction power draws viscous fluids into the pump inlet.

Immersed inlet

Combined effect of gravity and atmospheric pressure pushes liquid to the pump inlet, improving discharge flow rate and improving efficiency.

Low product shear

The slow running, positive displacement design guarantees smooth pumping action without damaging the product.

Cover a wide viscosity range

From 1 – 100,000+ mPas, depending on fluid rheology.

Pulsation-free flow

The progressive cavity design ensures flow is consistent and un-interrupted, unlike some alternative positive displacement pumps.

Choice of drive motors

The F 570 model requires a single-phase 110V or 240V electric motor, or compressed air motor. In contrast, the F 580 models require a compressed air or 3-phase electric motor.

High flow rate and discharge pressure

Depending on the motor selected and the media type, Viscopower can develop flows up to 80 LPM and discharge pressure up to 15 Bar.

Solids-handling

Solids up to 8 mm in diameter can pass cleanly through the pump, however, softer stator materials must be selected for handling more abrasive media. These pumps are suitable for handling large quantities of small abrasive particles.

Choice of rotors

Use one pump to deliver multiple different flow rates.

Choice of stator materials

Use one pump to handle many different media types.

Modular, simple design

These pumps have few moving parts and are simple to service and repair, without the use of specialised tools. They are also extremely easy to clean, thanks to quick-release connections that facilitate rapid disassembly and re-assembly.

In summary, no other high viscosity drum pump can offer such a range of features and benefits. Their modularity and cleanability make them especially well-suited to food and cosmetics applications.

Furthermore, these pumps handle adhesive media more efficiently than competing technologies such as AODD, gear, peristaltic, or flexible impeller pumps.
