FAQs

What’s the difference between a surface pump and a submersible pump?

A surface pump sits outside the water and creates suction to draw water through an inlet hose. Surface pumps are primarily connected to above ground rain barrels and storage tanks, but when manually primed, will also draw water up from pools or wells. A submersible pump is designed to work underwater, pushing water upwards from the bottom of tanks, pools, rain barrels, sumps and cellars. Submersible pumps can reduce water levels to just a few millimetres and models are available for pumping both clean and dirty water.

What is the best pump for irrigation?

Choose a pump with high discharge pressure and steady flow, such as the Einhell surface pump, which suitable for running sprinklers and irrigation systems. You can also consider the range of Einhell submersible pumps, which are suitable for a range of lower pressure water transfer tasks around the home and garden.

How long do irrigation pumps last?

Most irrigation pumps last several years with proper care. Regular cleaning, correct storage and using clean water help extend their lifespan. Pumps with robust ceramic seal designs and overload protection usually last even longer.
