What is a drainage pump?

A drainage pump removes unwanted groundwater or floodwater from basements, pits, excataions, pools or low-level areas. They are designed to move large volumes quickly, so they are ideal for emergencies and routine pumping  jobs. They can handle dirty water containing silt, sand or even gravel, with some models able to handle solid particles up to 40 mm in diameter.

How does a submersible pump work?

A submersible pump works either partially or fully underwater. An electric motor is coupled to a driveshaft-mounted, bladed impeller, which rotates at high speed. Water flows into the low-level pump inlet under the effects of gravity and atmospheric pressure. The impeller forces water upwards through the pump body and discharge hose, to the point of delivery. Because the pump sits directly in the water, it removes water efficiently from wells, ponds, rain barrels and flooded spaces.

What is a puddle pump?

A puddle pump is a clear‑water submersible pump that removes water down to very low levels, sometimes as little as 1 mm. It’s ideal for clearing floodwater and drying patios, cellars, pool bases, garages and other flat surfaces.
