Media group |
Typical examples |
Selection consideration |
| Solvents and alcohols | Ethanol, isopropyl alcohol and compatible industrial solvents | Check chemical compatibility, ATEX-certification, DSEAR recommendations. Ensure pump, motor and accessories are suitable for flammable media and hazardous area use. |
| Fuels and petroleum products | Compatible low-viscosity fuels, oils and petroleum-based liquids | Check liquid viscosity, temperature, compatibility of sealing materials and any hazardous-area requirements. |
| Process chemicals | Compatible dilute acids, alkalis and other low-viscosity process liquids | Verify compatibility with stainless steel 316 L, ETFE and the selected O-ring material before use. |
| Food, cosmetic and pharmaceutical liquids | Compatible alcohol blends, glycerol blends and other hygienic-process liquids | Consider the sanitary Miniflux when hygienic approvals and optimal cleanability are required. |
| Important: These are representative media groups only. Suitability depends on the liquid concentration, temperature, viscosity and motor configuration. View our chemical compatibility guide for IBC and drum pumps. | ||
Practical benefits of the FLUX Miniflux IBC container pump |
|
Benefit |
Value in use |
| ATEX-certified operation | Safe to use in Zone 1 / 2 hazardous areas where flammable vapours and gases may be present. |
| High performance | Exceptional flow rate and delivery pressure for efficient transfer and significantly faster emptying than gravity draining. |
| Lightweight handling | At only 1.2 kg, the pump is easy to position and remove, helping reduce manual-handling demands. |
| Secure, adaptable IBC connection | Swivel nut for secure connection to a standard S60 x 6 male IBC outlet, with adaptors available to suit different tanks and process vessels. |
| Ideal for restricted-access areas | Highly compact, portable design is ideal for stacked IBCs and tanks. Ideal for locations where limited headroom prevents top-entry pumping. |
| Rapid cleaning and maintenance | The pump separates into two parts using a quick-release clamp, simplifying cleaning and routine maintenance. |
| Flexible modular motor system | The quick-connect coupling enables compatible motors to be attached or removed in seconds. |
| Controlled dispensing | Pumping against a closed valve, such as a hand nozzle, is possible for convenient on-demand dispensing. |
| Resistance to demanding media | Standard ETFE, FKM and stainless-steel 316 materials support use with a range of chemicals and flammable liquids. |
| Efficient IBC drainage | Direct low-level transfer helps minimise residual waste for more complete container emptying. |
| Sanitary option available | A hygienic version is available for food, beverage, cosmetics and pharmaceutical production applications. |
Consider whether transfer is required from the low-level outlet or through the top cap, the IBC type, the liquid’s chemical and physical properties, the available power supply, the required flow and pressure, and the horizontal and vertical transfer distance. The Miniflux is designed for connection to the low-level outlet valve; alternative FLUX pump types are available for top-entry, high-pressure or high-viscosity duties.
The F 430 is a vertical pump installed through the top cap of an IBC, whereas the Miniflux is a compact horizontal IBC container pump that connects directly to the low-level outlet valve. This makes the Miniflux particularly suitable for stacked IBCs, process tanks, height-restricted installations and applications where a lightweight, portable pump can help simplify installation and reduce manual handling.
Both pumps are closely related axial centrifugal designs, using the same 38 mm impeller, mechanical-seal arrangement and modular F 400 series drive motors, so comparable configurations deliver the same performance. However, the F 430 is available in five pump materials and can be specified with options such as a semi-axial impeller for higher discharge pressure, inlet strainers and back-flow valves.
Miniflux is available only in stainless steel 316, so liquid compatibility and accessory choices are more limited than F 430. However, its lightweight construction and compact size offers greater portability and flexibility.
No. When the impeller spins a lower pressure zone is created. This helps liquid flow into the pump inlet. However, liquid primarily reaches the pump inlet thanks to the effects of gravity and atmospheric pressure. Therefore, the pump must positioned below the level of the liquid in the supply tank. This pump is not a “self-priming” design.
The Miniflux is a compact, efficient solution for emptying IBC’s. However, different liquids, hydraulic conditions and certification requirements will influence motor, o-ring, hose and accessory selection.
