Food Grade Drum Pump for the Food & Beverage Industry

Flux manufactures a range of hygienic food grade drum pump options designed specifically for the food and beverage industry. Hygienic liquid transfer is crucial in this sector. Flux provides safe, efficient solutions, while complying with industry regulations. Flux food grade pumps meet the latest European safety standards for food contact surfaces. For example, EC 1935/2004 and EU 10/2011, along with US FDA CFR 21 standards. Pumps are also available with 3-A sanitary certification if required.

Whether you need to transfer edible oils, syrups, or dairy products, our pumps are built to deliver superior performance while maintaining cleanliness.

Food grade pumps available

The Flux FOOD grade drum pump series includes low viscosity barrel and IBC pump models FP 427 and FP 430. The series also includes VISCOPOWER progressive cavity pumps for transferring high viscosity materials, such as tomato paste, sauces and soups. All pumps have hygienic clamp connections. The manufacturing process involves treating and highly polishing pump bodies and welds to minimise "dead spots". These pumps are easy to dismantle and clean. The FP 430 Ex FOOD grade pump features explosion protection for transfer of alcohols. It can be used to pump liquids containing small solids. The VISCOPOWER provides gentle, pulsation free product transfer. Additionally, it will handle soft solids up to 10 mm in size without damage, due to the progressive cavity design.

We recommend the F 458 series drive motor for use with the F 430 and F 427 pumps. This fully-sealed motor with IP55 rating, is perfect for use in sanitary applications. The IP 55 F 460 Ex motor should be used with the F 430 FOOD grade pump for handling alcohols. Flux can also provide a range of approved accessories for use with FOOD grade drum pumps. For instance, discharge spouts, manual and automated valves, hand nozzles, swaged fittings and discharge hoses.

Enjoying food is all about quality, taste, and freshness. That's why we dedicate ourselves to the precise pumping, transfer, and dispensing of food, flavours and raw materials. Regardless of whether the media is low-viscosity, high-viscosity, or barely flows, FLUX offers the perfect solution for every type of product.

What is a food grade pump?

A food-grade pump is designed specifically for handling consumable liquids. Constructed wholly from materials safe for food contact, for example 316 L stainless steel, these pumps are straightforward to clean.

Additionally, their design eliminates any hidden crevices where food residue could accumulate and foster bacterial growth, thereby preventing contamination. The pumps have treated welds and highly polished surfaces to guarantee cleanliness.

What are the uses of pumps in food industry?

In the food industry, specialised pumps play a crucial role in the transfer, mixing, and dispensing of edible products, for example, cooking oil or tomato paste, during processing and production. These pumps are constructed from materials that meet food safety standards, and their smooth surfaces minimise risk of contamination and bacterial accumulation. In addition, chemical pumps are used for dosing disinfectants and sanitisers. These products are required for cleaning production equipment and packaging lines. In certain food production environments, such as abattoirs and slaughterhouses, submersible pumps may also be used for emptying slurry and waste tanks.
